Zahid: Malaysians still ignorant about country’s defence

Many Malaysians still lack knowledge of the country’s ability to defend itself from enemy threats said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said an online survey carried out through the Defence Ministry’s website on Jan 13, showed that the public lacked exposure in the country’s defensive system.

Questions asked during the survey was to assess the publics response to questions regarding the countries defence, he said in a written answer to a question on the results of the survey from Liew Chin Tong (DAP-Bukit Bendera) in the Dewan Rakyat here today.

Ahmad Zahid said the ministry and the Malaysian Armed Forces would initiate programmes and activities to create awareness and exposure to the public.

“We (ministry) and the Armed Forces have numerous interactive programmes and activities for the purpose,” he said. – Bernama
