In response to the Ministry of Water, Green Technology and Power ‘s move to ban the use of plastic bags, MP Liew Chin Tong would like to welcome the Federal Government in taking steps that emulate Penang State Government’s efforts in promoting a green state.
According to Water, Green Technology and Power Minister Datuk Peter Chin Fa Kui, the campaign would be tried out at the ministry level as a start. ‘I urged the Ministry to take serious consideration and be more ambitious to expand the implementation nationwide rather than just restricting it to the ministerial premises’.
More proactive initiatives ought to be taken quickly by the Government to arrest the slide in our environment standard, as it is a well known fact that the condition of our environment is deteriorating,’ said Liew. ‘It is not only a national problem but a global problem, thus it should not be viewed lightly’.
Liew also urged the Federal Government to present a concrete Green roadmap to the public to make known the practical plans to be executed in the effort to conserve the environment and promote green technology.
