Towards PRU 14 – Johor Leads Towards Nusajaya and Putrajaya

Pakatan-Rakyat

Joint Statement by Johor Pakatan Rakyat leadership of PAS, PKR and DAP in Johor Bharu on Friday, 24th January 2014:

The Pakatan Rakyat leadership of PAS, PKR and DAP, with the full support of all the PR elected representatives at both the Parliamentary and State Assembly levels, are committed in the role and mission of “Johor Leads” to position Johor as the front-line state of Pakatan Rakyat in Peninsula Malaysia in the 14th General Elections in the march of Pakatan Rakyat towards Nusajaya and Putrajaya.

Conscious of this challenge and task, the first priority of Pakatan Rakyat Johore leadership is to work out a strategy within a month to win over Barisan Nasional’s eight marginal parliamentary and eight marginal state assembly seats in Johore.

Marginal Seats are defined as seats which are won by 55% or less votes.

Based on the 2013 General Elections results and present constituency redelineations, there are eight Barisan Nasional marginal parliamentary seats.

There are eight Barisan Nasional marginal state assembly seats.

While working out a strategy to win over the Barisan Nasional’s eight marginal parliamentary and eight marginal state assembly seats, Johor Pakatan Rakyat must also ensure that we fortify the five PR parliamentary seats, in particular the three marginal seats of Batu Pahat, Bakri and Kluang and the 18 PR State Assembly seats.

A high-level national/state Pakatan Rakyat meeting is being planned in Johor next month to kick off the Johor PR’s “front-line state” campaign in the road to Nusajaya and Putrajaya in the 14GE.

Johor PR proposes a high-level meeting with Johor BN to assure Malaysians that there could not be another May 13 racial riots
In keeping with “Johor Leads” motto, Johor Pakatan Rakyat proposes a high-level meeting with Johor Barisan Nasional to assure Malaysians that there could not be another May 13 racial riots in the country.

Johor Pakatan Rakyat fully supports the initiative taken by the national Pakatan Rakyat leadership of PKR, PAS and DAP offering an olive branch to the Prime Minister and the Barisan Nasional leadership for a Summit Meeting of BN and PR leaders to assure Malaysians that all actions would be taken by Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat to ensure that there could not be another May 13 riots, as some irresponsible and reckless quarters are conspiring to create.

The Johor Pakatan Rakyat fully endorses the statement that if the BN and PR coalitions are united to ensure that there would not be another May 13, there are no forces or groups in Malaysia who are capable of conspiring and creating the conditions for another May 13.

We fully endorse the love and patriotism for Malaysia of PR leaders from PAS, PKR and DAP behind the initiative for a BN-PR Leadership Summit and urge the BN Supreme Council meeting tonight to rise above party and personal considerations to ensure that such a historic BN-PR Leadership Summit could be held successfully to send a clear and unmistakable message to all Malaysians and the world – that Malaysians, regardless of race, religion, region or political affiliation are united in wanting to ensure the success of Malaysia as a united, harmonious, peaceful and tolerant nation and will not accept or tolerate any evil designs by any group seeking to undermine and destroy the Malaysian nation through the incitement of racial and religious hatred, conflict and tension to set race against race, religion against religion and Malaysians against Malaysians!

We believe that the overwhelming majority of Malaysians, whether Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans, Ibans or Orang Asli, whether members of political parties in the Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat coalitions, want to see unity, harmony, peace and tolerance continue as the hallmarks of Malaysian nation-building and abhor any incitement of racial and religious hatred, conflict and tension. Even more, they condemn any quarter that wants to create or even threaten another May 13 in Malaysia.

It would be a good idea if the initiative of a BN-PR Leaders Summit at the national level is also held at the state level, and this is why the Johor PR is taking the initiative to propose a Johor State Leadership Summit of BN-PR leaders.

This is an urgent challenge to be faced by all Malaysian patriots regardless of party politics, for the traitors who are prepared to destroy Malaysia with another May 13 are already embarking on the second stage of their conspiracy to launch off a spiral of violence as evident from the escalation of the incitement of racial and religious hatred, conflict and tensions in Penang together with deplorable incidents of violence.

The Johor Pakatan Rakyat leadership are prepared to hold the Johor Summit of BN-PR leaders at any time, depending on the response of the Johor BN leadership.
