Stop 114A — 14 August 2012 Internet Blackout
DAP is participating in a campaign initiated by the Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) Malaysia to hold Malaysia’s first ever Internet Blackout Day on 14/8/2012 to protest against the introduction of Section 144A into the Evidence Act.
“Section 144A will enable law enforcement officials to hold you accountable for publishing seditious, defamatory, or libelous content online, as long as the allegedly defamatory content is traced back to your username, electronic device, and/or WiFi network. Section 114A presumes you are guilty of publishing illicit content on the Internet unless you can prove otherwise. In short, you are considered guilty until proven innocent.“
